The MacMillan Center The Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies, which hosts the European Studies Council and the Russian, East European and Eurasian Program, is the University’s focal point for promoting teaching and research on all aspects of international affairs, societies, and cultures around the world.
European Studies Council The European Studies Council formulates and implements new curricular and research programs reflective of current developments in Europe. The geographical scope of the council’s activities extends from Ireland to the lands of the former Soviet Union.
Baltic Studies Program The Yale Baltic Studies Program is an interdisciplinary forum for the study of the Baltic Sea region, with an emphasis on the lands that comprise contemporary Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. The program sponsors symposia, and lectures and serves as a resource for and liaison among students and scholars whose work involves the Baltic region.
Central Asia Initiative The Central Asia Initiative’s mission is to promote a deeper understanding of Central Asia and its relations with neighboring regions and the wider world. We strive to advance knowledge and scholarship on the region’s history, politics, culture, and economy, and to engage with diverse audiences to foster mutual understanding and collaboration.
Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures The Slavic Department at Yale is one of the oldest programs of its kind in the United States and offers both undergradaute and graduate programs with courses in medieval to contemporary literare, language instruction in Russian, Polish and Czech, and cross-listed courses that highlight such varied fields as visual art, media studies, film, and gender studies.
The Jackson School for Global Affairs The Jackson Institute for Global Affairs offers interdisciplinary academic programs that inspire and prepare Yale students for global leadership and service. In addition to degree programs in Global Affairs, Jackson is home to the Global Health Studies Multidisciplinary Academic Program (MAP), the Maurice R. Greenberg World Fellows Program, the Johnson Center for the Study of American Diplomacy, and the Kerry Initiative.
